A-Shopping We Shall Go
This season, there are a few clothing must-haves according to every fashion magazine such as: a fitted jacket, skinny jeans, anything gray, a printed dress, a ruffled top and of course, anything gold (vermil that is). I have been out and about checking out a few of my favorite places and they are ready to outfit each and every one of my readers.

No outfit is complete without a little bling. My favorite kind of bling is what is now referred to as “fashion jewelry.” Using metals dipped in gold, accenting designs with gorgeous semi-precious stones, and just making high-end statements at a fraction of the cost, fashion jewelry has made a statement that is now worn by all the Hollywood starlets! So where can you find the best selection under one roof? Dovecote on Post Road East in Westport.
Dovecote started as a home furnishing store with a few pieces of jewelry. Now, in a narrow hallway to the side of the store are walls displaying a large, top- notch array of jewelry from designers such as: Abigail Fox, Anne Sportun, Brooke Gregson, Connie Cusick, Dana Kellin, Debbie Fisher, Lena Wald, Margo Morrison, Melissa Joy Manning, Nava Zahavi, Pade Vavra, Rosanne Pugliese, Sandra Goodkind, Ted Rossi, Tiffany Peay, Vaubel, and one of my personal favorites, Coralia Leets. Prices range, for the most part, between $100 and $500.

Who says you have to pay retail for designer labels? Not Roundabout. Roundabout started out as a consignment store, but as the clothing marketplace has changed, the owner has been able to secure fabulous relationships with designer showroom and boutiques in NYC. Now, about half of each store is stocked with first hand merchandise at prices that are 50% or more off original retail. Top names include: Ella Moss, Tory Burch, Shin Chio to name a few.
There are stores in Westport, Darien, Greenwich and Scarsdale, NY. It is worth a trip to each store as they all will get in different shipments. Last week in Darien I picked up skinny cords from Seven for $69; originally $165.
Different from a discount store like Loehmann’s, there are saleswomen to assist you. Keep in mind: all sales are final! Choose carefully and have fun shopping!

On the Post Road in Darien is a wonderfully upscale boutique that is packed with all the colors of the rainbow from hip designers such as Alice & Trixie, Trina Turk, and Tory Burch. The store is Erica K, and she can fill your closets with every one of your clothing desires.
What's great about Erica K is that one store really can do it all — casual tops, cashmere sweaters, jeans, dresses, camis and panties, gift items, jewelry — and all this is a perfectly merchandised space. Pick up new fall tops from Ella Moss and Spendid; jeans from Hudson and Chip Pepper; and fashion jewelry from In2Designing and Viv & Ingrid.

Located in Wilton at Wilton Center is a fabulous fashion find called Une Minette. This store was always a women’s clothing store, however, the current owner Lauren Mulligan took over this space one year ago and has transformed into a fashion haven.
Lauren and her fashion savy staff can outfit you in hip and reasonably priced tops from companies like 525 America, C&C California and Language to fabulous pants from Theory, Juicy, ISDA and of course all the best jeans including a huge assortment of Joe and Sevens and new to her store and the area are Cheap Wednesdays (yes, they are cheap at $68, but no, they do not look it). One of my favorite lines, and hard to find in this area, is Johnny Was. Shop now as she is selling out of the tops the same day she gets them in!

Don’t you love when you find a hidden gem? You want to keep it to yourself, but you can’t. That’s how I feel about Bodytalk. Located in Playhouse Square in Westport, you cannot see it from the street, but trust me, pull into the parking lot and go shop. The owner has a great eye for clothes and it is evident in the extensive assortment of styles and sizes which, trust me, will fit any body or budget.
What I love about Bodytalk is that for every brand you know and love, you will find a new one you don’t know, but will come to love as is the case in my latest purchase of a Curio sweater dress and grey sweater jacket by Kensie. Currently in stock is the most extensive line of Michael Stars tops that you can wear under the softest, best priced line of cashmere cardigans, wraps and sweaters by Minnie Rose. Of course, don’t forget to grab a new pair of jeans from 7, Citizen or Joe.
The racks of clothing can be overwhelming, but don’t get scared. The sales staff knows every piece of merchandise on the racks and is always willing to help. Let them get to know you and they will be your personal shopper.
